Looking ahead to Spring in Region VIII!
Spring is getting closer each day and with the arrival of warmer weather, conference planning is in full swing across the Region. Mark your calendars now to attend one or more of these excellent meetings:
April 6-8; Bozeman, Montana: ASCLS-MT presents The Clinical Laboratory – Bringing the Pieces Together. Check the website for more information.
April 20-22; Idaho Falls, Idaho: ASCLS-ID presents The Convention of Higher Learning. Check the website for information as it develops.
May 4-5; Northglenn, Colorado: ASCLS-CO and ASCLS-WY present The Clinical Laboratory Collaborative Conference. Check the website for more information.
These spring conferences are one of the many wonderful benefits of your membership in ASCLS. This is an opportunity to come together with your peers and share successes, challenges, new discoveries, and lessons learned. This is a time to greet old friends, meet new friends, learn what’s happening in your organization and in the medical laboratory profession. Not only are there many excellent scientific sessions offering P.A.C.E. credits, there are also designated times to meet with representatives from many exhibitors sharing the latest innovations – instrumentation, reagents, test kits, POC platforms, IT solutions, and career opportunities. Take the opportunity to interact with the exhibitors and impress your manager when you bring back solutions for your workplace. This is what our Profession is all about, continuous change and improvement in how we do things. Your membership in ASCLS allows you the opportunity to attend these meetings at a reduced rate. This is vital step to stay current in the field, making you a must-have employee! Reach out to your co-workers, share the meeting information and encourage them to attend – bring them with you.
You will also be able to attend the annual membership/business meeting of your state Society and hear the state of the state, elect new officers, review financials, vote on any bylaw changes. This is when your State Society conducts the business that impacts you as a member – one of the many benefits of belonging to ASCLS, YOU have the ability to make a difference. Come to the conference, attend your business meeting, and make your voice heard.
