{"id":533,"date":"2017-08-25T03:02:35","date_gmt":"2017-08-25T03:02:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/asclsregion8.org\/IMSS\/?page_id=533"},"modified":"2017-08-25T03:05:20","modified_gmt":"2017-08-25T03:05:20","slug":"history-of-imss","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/asclsregion8.org\/IMSS\/history-of-imss\/","title":{"rendered":"History of IMSS"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 class=\"entry-content\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/asclsregionviii.org\/wpi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-46 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/asclsregion8.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/ASCLS-IMSS.png\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" srcset=\"http:\/\/asclsregion8.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/ASCLS-IMSS.png 400w, http:\/\/asclsregion8.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/ASCLS-IMSS-300x285.png 300w, http:\/\/asclsregion8.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/ASCLS-IMSS-158x150.png 158w, http:\/\/asclsregion8.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/ASCLS-IMSS-150x143.png 150w\" alt=\"Intermountain States Seminar\" width=\"400\" height=\"380\" \/><\/a>It All Started Way Back When\u2026<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u2026the Utah Society for Medical Technology had the idea of establishing an Intermountain States Seminar way back in 1962 before most of you young\u2019uns were even born.\u00a0 Idaho joined Utah in promoting this idea, and offered to act as the first state.\u00a0 Jackson Hole, Wyoming was proposed as the meeting site if Wyoming would join forces.\u00a0 Not only did Wyoming agree, but Montana also wanted to participate in the venture.\u00a0 All four states realized a combined seminar would provide noted speakers, quality workshops, and active participation.\u00a0 Colorado joined the Intermountain States Seminar as the fifth state in 1970.<\/p>\n<p>The first seminar was held in May of 1964.\u00a0 Subsequent meetings have been held in September.\u00a0 The five states have developed a rotation for hosting the annual convention and are as follows: Idaho, Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana.<\/p>\n<p>In 1967, a Coordinating Committee was established to assist in planning and to provide continuity to the Seminar.\u00a0 The Coordinating Committee is comprised of two members from each of the five states serving terms of five years.\u00a0 There is also an exhibitor liaison from each state.\u00a0 The Planning Committee from the host state organizes all of the many aspects of the seminar. \u00a0In 2015, the Coordinating Committee was dissolved and Region VIII took over responsibility for the seminar.<\/p>\n<p>Baxter Scientific Products established the award for \u201cIMSS Medical Technologist of the Year\u201d in 1966.\u00a0 Each of the participating states submits a nominee each year for this award.\u00a0 In 1971, Radiometer America Company established the award for \u201cOutstanding Coordinating Committee Member\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The success of the seminar is an excellent example of clinical laboratory personnel working together to better their profession.\u00a0 In 1988, IMSS began to include the Jackson community in plans for the seminar, wishing both to increase awareness of our profession and to increase health knowledge within the community.<\/p>\n<p>IMSS continues to be the crown jewel of Region VIII. \u00a0We are proud to sponsor such a renowned seminar which draws world-class speakers, innovative exhibitors and true professionals to the beautiful setting of Jackson Hole, Wyoming. \u00a0Please join us this fall for another outstanding event.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It All Started Way Back When\u2026 &nbsp;
